Personal, Social & Emotional Development (PSED) is one of the prime areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) focusing on self-confidence and self-awareness, managing feelings and behavior and making relationships. PSED underpin all other aspects of the children's learning and development, and at Halo Nursery we are committed to ensuring that our little Halo’s are supported to shape their social skills to develop respect and an understanding of their different feelings.
We encourage our little Halo’s to talk about their ideas and choose the resources they need for their chosen activities. They are guided to show sensitivity to others' needs and feelings and form positive relationships with adults and other children. Our little Halo’s will work as part of a Coloured Group to understand and follow our rules. We allow them to adjust their behavior to different situations and make changes of routine in their stride.
We work with our little Halo’s and demonstrate the benefits of “together”, “team” and “cooperation” through sharing ideas and resources, so they have access to experiences and activities that interest them.
Our physical environment encourages our little Halo’s to be independent and make use of resources of their choice. We encourage each child to discuss their own decision of learning materials and toys
to be used during the day, where they would like to play and who to play with allowing them to reinforce the value of cooperation and consideration for others while playing, learning and having fun.
